I have been working like crazy this past week to crank out some new and awesome lyrics collages :)

I also am working on a collage for my friend who recently moved into a new apartment. I have a vision of what I want it to look like, but the exact plan has not come to me yet.. it will eventually.

I also would like to try and sell some collages on etsy.com - I have tried in the past but I have been unsuccessful. I think with a new focus on my collages and hopefully some luck - I will be able to. The thing is - I don't even want that much money for them. I have seen people sell collages for like 10x what I want. For something I have just made, probably $5 - $10 depending on how big and how much effort went into it. For a custom collage - $15 - $20 depending on how big and how much effort went into it. I love collaging and I would like to make money doing it, but I don't want other people to go broke buying a unique collage!

It's been awhile!

I know it has been awhile since I last posted a collage, and in reality, it has been awhile since I have made one. I haven't been able to sit down and focus for a good amount of time. But, I am working on two collages for my friend, Amanda. I have a bunch of ideas in my head for other collages, but it seems like every time I sit down to work on a collage, I just can not focus! It's very frustrating.

Anyways, I made this collage today, for Joe's mom. It's her birthday on Friday. Yes, I made her a sheep collage last year, but this year, the collage is way better!! I really love this one. It's not a typical collage from me, since I didn't use any magazines, just cardstock.

"Twilight" Quote Collage Version 2.0

The last collage I made was great, but this was what I was looking for. It took me a few days to figure out why I couldn't get it the right way.. it was because I needed white words on a black background!

I think it turned out lovely.

A New Collage..

"Twilight" Quote Collage

I made this quote for a girl that I go to school with, who in addition to my best friend, told me I just had to read the Twilight books. She lent me the books, so I decided I'd make her this because she LOVES Edward Cullen, a lot. Haha. Also, because I am very grateful for her to have lent me the books. (I'm on #3 now.)

I love this collage. It's very simple, which is perfect for the quote. I had imagined in my head something else to it, but I couldn't really get it down. I actually made this collage 2x. The first one turned out all wrong, so I had to restart! It was a bummer, but I'm glad that I did. I was hoping to do something along the lines of red apples or red flowers against black paper, but it just really wasn't working out the way I wanted it to, so I settled with plain. Which, I guess is what it should be. Because if it were to be any other way, my brain would have come up with something different and DOABLE! hah.

Right now, I have this pile of words that I need for different songs sitting on my desk but who knows how long it will be until I actually get around to using them.. I found the word "Hell" which makes me one to do one for "Suprise, Suprise" by The Starting Line ("I'll be your friend in Hell/until then I despise you.") and I found "rock'n'roll" which makes me want to do one for "Autography" by The Starting Line ("Let us in/Because were what you want/to solve all your problems for tonight/Because you're just so rock 'n' roll.") I also found "seaside" IN BLUE! which makes me want to do one for "Lighthouse" by The Hush Sound ("You and I will escape to the seaside")

But REALLY, I was listening to The Spill Canvas the other day, which made me want to do two different songs.. "Secret Oath" and "Sunsets and Car Crashes." I will probably actually work on these two first.. since the parts I want to do are much longer. Then, hopefully, I will find some of the words I need to do the other three. :)

It's been awhile!

I am still alive, haha! With work and now school (I have A's in both of my classes!) I just can't seem to focus on collaging. That, and my boyfriend bought me Super Mario Galaxy for the Wii, so addictive! I have a few collages that I started about 1 month ago and I just can't find a few of the words. So frustrating!! Also, I attribute it to a "collage block" - think writer's block - I get it every now and again. But, after it is over.. then I usually come up with a lot of collages. Comes and goes.

Even though I've been unmotivated on my OWN collages, I am currently working on 4 collages for a lady who emailed me after finding this website! Isn't that awesome?! I'm really glad to be working on something for someone, seeing as how that is why this website is out here in the first place. I love making collages for myself, of course, but it is so much more gratifying when I make them for someone else. I love to hear their reaction when they see it for the first time, and most of all, I am happy that they enjoy my art.

Well, I must get back to working on the collages!

I need your help!

It seems that I have been in somewhat of an "artistic block" lately. Does anyone have any ideas to offer me?

I find that when I ask people for ideas, then I can work on them, then I come up with new stuff. It's like.. a jump start, so to say. Who knows, maybe if I make a collage based on your idea, I might even give it to you. :)

Finally, I have finished this collage. I have been working on it, probably since March, or so. It took me forever to find all of the crazy words in this such as, but not limited to pristine, precise, blackened, skewed, chandelier.. but, alas, I have finished this collage. I am very happy with the way that it has turned out. I knew from the get-go that I wanted to incorporate pictures of mirrors/chandeliers and I found quite a few. It was definitely hard to narrow it down to what I did put on in the end. I am so happy to be finished with it and have it hanging on my wall, in a frame, even. :)

I just whipped this up real quick the other day, to take along with me on my trip to L.A. on Friday. I bought a book, "Some Hope," a trilogy by Edward St. Aubyn. It is about his life, and how he grew up around addiction and actually became addicted to. I think it's going to be a great book, and it should give me some ideas for my auto-biography/biography.

I picked this lyric because I like it, a lot. I made this in 2006, it was one of the first ones that I made. I love the red music note at the bottom - it blends in well. Also, as you can see, on this one, I had used red & black letters - I don't normally do that nowadays. I stick to black letters only, unless I want a word to stick out - then I do only that word in a different color.

I made this collage with the vision of putting it in a frame - the space above the quote is where you can place a picture. I love the way this one turned out - it was my first time going up and down with the words instead of left to right. It's truly beautiful.

I made this collage for my friend, who loves The Spill Canvas. She has even been a fan for longer than me! This is one of her favorite songs by them.

I especially love the leaves tiles at the bottom of the words. It was a nice added touch.

I made this for my friend, Jess. I was in a rut back in the winter and had asked her to give me an idea for a collage, and I would make it for her, hoping that I would get out of my rut. It worked.

I love this collage. It is very colorful and has a great story to tell.

This is a collage that I made for The Hush Sound! I actually gave this to them in March 2008, when they played in Pittsburgh. Greta, the pianist/one of the lead singers, LOVED it. She thought it was so sweet of me to make that for them and gave me a BIG hug! It was adorable.

This is yet another random collage. I really like this one and how it is about The Hush Sound - the instruments, their names, the lighthouse (for their song, "Lighthouse") the tangerines (for their song, "Sweet Tangerine) the garden (for their song, "Wine Red) and the flowers (for their song, "Magnolia.)

This is one of the first collages I ever made. I believe this to be the actual first, but I can't remember totally. This was made in 1999. I was in seventh grade and I hung this in my locker.

Random Collage for Yuri

I made this collage for my brother, Yuri, who is 6 years younger than me. I made it on a folder for him so he could use it for school. He loves music - a feat that I believe is pretty awesome, considering he is hearing impaired. He listens to the beat, that is about all he can hear. It is just so neat to me that he likes to listen to music, seeing as how I am a big fan of music. It does make me sad, though, that he can't hear words, really. I guess he can, sort of, but I think it has to do with if he is watching the music video, then he can see the singer's mouth movements - he is a phenomenal lip reader. Hah, my most funny memory of him singing is along to the "Family Guy" song. I was like, "What?!," I couldn't believe it, hah.

I call these types of collages because they are random. They are more "person" themed - I made many of these during high school. Every friend would have one, but they would each have everything themed to them. They are definitely more of the fun ones to make just because you can do whatever with them.
